Will the Bullet Ever Slow Down?

Posted by admin On July - 29 - 2010

Some legends never die.  Mae Young wrestled on occasion well into her 80s, and Lou Thesz wrestled for an amazing six decades.  Ric Flair is pushing 60, and he seems able to jump in to a ring and challenge today’s brightest young stars.  However, none of these legends seem to wrestle as regularly as the septuagenarian known as Bullet Bob Armstrong.

With his trademark mask, tattoos, silver hair, and keen ability to knock out wrestlers with one punch, Bob Armstrong is a man among men.  He’s wrestled thousands of matches, and he shows no sign of slowing up.  Although there is no clear tracking of this sort of thing, many people call  Bob the oldest active wrestler in the world.  Sure, there are a few older men who wrestle on occasion, but not with the consistency of Bullet Bob.  If you get a chance, make sure to check him out.

Redefining “Cruiserweight;” The Story of Maze

Redefining “Cruiserweight;” The Story of Maze

If you followed indy wrestling on the Gulf Coast in 2005, then you knew the name Maze, and when you heard that name you thought of a high flying young star capable of moving with the top international stars in the country.  If you follow Gulf Coast wrestling in 2010, then you know Maze is still a top star.  However, you probably don’t think of him as a high flyer.  You think of him as a cagey veteran.  You think of him as a wrestler who is capable of hard hitting mat action and even greuling hardcore matches?

Many would ask, why did Maze change, and has it been good for his career?  Considering his recent successes in Ultimate Wrestling, there is no doubt that he is at the top of his game.  Has Maze learned that the daredevil antics of many cruiserweight stars are great for entertaining crowds, but they don’t win many titles?  Has Maze learned that back handsprings and moonsaults are not as effective as a knee in the face or a punch to the throat?

When we asked Maze to comment, he refused our interview.  In fact, he took great offense to the questions.  This may have to do with Maze’s new found agressive attitude.  This attitude seems to care less about flashy moves and more about ruthless offense.  It also seems to be winning him many matches.

As Maze continues to rack up title victories, other cruiserweights seem to mimic his new attitude and style.  Coined the “bruiserweight” mantra, this aggression seems to be breeding in the Gulf Coast thanks to Maze’s success.

Deathrow Destroys The Gulf Coast

Posted by admin On June - 16 - 2010

For those of you who have been living under a rock, Deathrow has been one of the most dominant wrestlers on the gulf coast for more than a year now.  He has been a human wrecking machine, destined for the WWE or TNA.  So why hasn’t he gotten the type of media coverage of a Joe Gibson or a BTY Colby Godwin?

Some people would say that Deathrow is an enigma.  He is a puzzle that nobody can solve.  He doesn’t publicly boast about his own superhuman feats.  He lets those feats speak for themselves.  However, trash talk is almost as important in the wrestling industry as the ability to back it up.  So people have to question, does Deathrow have what it takes to make it on his own?

For those of you who remember the name Mean Mark Callous, that’s what the Undertaker went by before meeting up with Ted Debiase and Brother Love.  Few people had heard of Callous, until he had a vocal Brother Love change his persona.  Few people had heard of Callous before he was thrust into the WWF title picture by the money of Debiase.  So one would have to ask, does Deathrow need a manager?  If so, who could lead this gulf coast giant?

Only time will tell what will happen with Deathrow.  Will he be taken under the tutalidge of a up-and-coming manager?  Will he be noticed by TNA or the WWE?  Will he continue to dominate the wrestling scene in 2011?  Stay tuned to find out.
